In a method for identifying the dye process in the manufacturing of recordable optical discs, the discs (104) are subjected to a dye process in a production line (100) having two or more dye bowls. At least one marking that identifies the dye process used to produce the disc (104) is marked on each disc. In one embodiment in which the production line includes three dye bowls (112a1, 112a2, and 112a3 or 112b1, 112b2, and 1112b3), one identifying marking is marked on discs (104) from a first dye bowl (112a1 or 112b1), two identifying markings are marked on discs (104) from a second dye bowl (112a2 or 112b2), and three identifying markings are marked on discs (104) from a third dye bowl (112a3 or 112b3). A method for manufacturing recordable optical discs and a recordable optical disc having an identifying marking that identifies a dye bowl used to spin coat a dye marked on the recordable optical disc also are described. |
