PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for continuously casting a metal, with which the surface quality of a product is improved and the service life of a mold can be extended by raising the transmitting efficiency of vibration to the inner surface side of the mold, in the continuous casting method of the metal with an ultrasonic vibrating method. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic vibrating body 14 is brought into contact with the surface 12 at molten metal (molten steel) 13 side of a mold copper plate 1, and during casting, e.g. the ultrasonic wave generated with an ultrasonic wave source 2 is transmitted to the ultrasonic vibrating body 14 with an ultrasonic wave horn 3 and this body is vibrated, is given to the mold copper plate 1 from the inner surface side of the mold to prevent the stickiness of the inclusion 10 and gas bubble 11 onto an initial solidified shell 9.
