PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically improve the recording speed, and to realize high quality recording without prolongation of the recording time even in the case the number of gradations is large. SOLUTION: A printing cycle T is divided into a plurality of sections T1, T2. Plural kinds of driving voltage wave forms SD1-SD6 are generated according to the size of ink droplets for each of the sections T1, T2. An optional driving voltage wave form is selected from the plural kinds of the driving voltage wave forms SD1-SD6 to be supplied to each of the sections T1, T2 so as to be supplied to a vibration generating means for each of the sections T1, T2. Accordingly, a plurality of gradations can be obtained in the printing cycle T so that the recording speed can be improved drastically as well as a high quality printing image can be obtained without prolongation of the recording time even in the case the number of gradations is large.
