PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the diffusion of an electrode material from an electrode, and to smoothly move a thermoelectric material in a manufacturing process by providing a barrier film that is formed on the surface of an electrode side, and has a single layer or a plurality of layers made of non-magnetic meal alloy for preventing the diffusion of the electrode or junction material. SOLUTION: Solder 5 is used as a junction member to one electrode being formed on a substrate 7 for placing two thermoelectric elements 1 side by side for connecting. Connection to the electrode 6 at the opposite side of the substrate 7 is made by the solder 5 so that two adjacent thermoelectric elements 1 being connected to the adjacent electrode 6 out of the adjacent thermoelectric elements 1 being connected onto an electrode of the substrate 7 are connected in series. Also, on both end faces at the side of each electrode 6 of the thermoelectric element 1, a barrier film 2 made of non-magnetic metal or alloy for preventing the diffusion to the thermoelectric element 1 of an electrode material or the solder is formed. The barrier film 2 can be formed by a plurality of layers. Also, the barrier film 2 is made of non-magnetic metal or the alloy, thus preventing magnetizing, and hence smoothly moving the thermoelectric element in a manufacturing process.
