PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed battery having superior electrolyte leakage resistance, which allows improvement of sealability in a caulking part by especially securing a sufficient insulation gasket compression area extending from a caulking side face part to a caulking tip part. SOLUTION: This sealed battery having superior electrolyte leakage resistance is obtained by storing an electrode plate group in a battery case, forming an annular groove 5A near the opening part of the battery case, placing a seal plate 3A on the annular groove 5A via an insulation gasket 2A, forming a slant side face part 6A, where the external size of a round-shaped caulking tip part 1A above the annular groove 5A is smaller than an external size of a root part 4A, and executing caulking with round-shaped cross-section at a slant angleαin a range of 1-15 deg..
