PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system comfortable to a user capable of realizing optimum controlling of printing by a method wherein predictive controlling is executed in an environment that bi-directional communication can be done between a printer and a data processor. SOLUTION: In a printing system, bi-directional communication can be done between a computer 102 and a printer 101 through an interface cable 105. In the case where the printer 101 prints the identical print data, information about an ink quantity used in one sheet of paper and about a residual quantity of ink are sent to the computer 102 and the computer calculates the number of sheets that can be printed at that time based on the above information, and then the information about the calculated number of the printable sheets is outputted to an output device 104, and a user is notified of it. |
