PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the discharge of the untreated contents from the outlet of the fermentation tank of a garbage treating machine and to reduce noise when the gas in the tank is discharged. SOLUTION: An outlet 11a is provided at the upper part of one side end in the fermentation tank 1 of this garbage treating machine and opened to discharge the overflowing contents, a fin 11c is projected into the tank along the outer frame of the outlet 11a on its one side, and the height of the fin is made variable in the vertical direction of the outlet 11a. Further, a silencer chamber is provided to the end of an exhaust duct in the exhaustion part of the machine to discharge the exhaust gas lead by an exhaust fan to the outside through the silencer chamber.
