PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycapramide which inhibits the increase of degree of polymerization, decreases monomer/oligomer generation at melting, prevents the cap-staining caused by MO sublimation products and reduces the dispersion of fiber qualities. SOLUTION: A polycapramide is terminated by a monocarboxylic acid and contains a diamine component as a copolymer component, wherein the molar ratio of the monocarboxylic acid to the capramide monomer unit is 0.0035 or larger, and the molar ratio of the diamine to the capramide monomer unit is 0.0005 or larger. Here the monocarboxylic acid is an aromatic compound. A fiber is made of this polycapramide.
