The invention relates to a process for preparing diaspore bauxite ore, impurified with argillaceous minerals, limestone, quartz and recrystallized lime carbonate, mineralogically combined with bauxite. According to the invention, the process consists in impregnating the diaspore bauxite with water, up to saturation, afterwards subjecting the impregnated ore to an autogenous primary grinding and to a volumetric classification, during which the material is sprinkled with strong water jets in order to remove the slime from the rough products. Then, the material is hydraulically classified to 0.1 mm, and the resulting material is directly subjected to a grinding operation in the second step or is triturated and washed in a hydrocyclone.
