PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide metal foil powder which is used for paint or the like, and consists of flat pieces containing non-fixed form metal thin films excellent in brightness, covering property, heat resistance and smoothness of a painted surface. SOLUTION: The metal foil powder is formed pulverized non-fixed form flat pieces of a laminate of <=3μm in thickness and comprising a metal thin film layer of at least 0.01 to 0.2μm in thickness and a transparent inorganic thin film coated layer of 0.05 to 2.0μm in thickness. The metal thin film layer is preferably formed of at least one kind of single metal of aluminum, silver, gold, nickel, chromium, tin, zinc, indium and titanium, an alloy thereof, and a mixture thereof.
