PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a person to be seated against great shock in collision without giving fatal influence thereto. SOLUTION: A fixed portion 2 is fixed to a seat in a vehicle and a person to be seated is fixed to a movable portion 3 with a belt or others. When shock is applied, inertia imposed on the weight of the person works on the movable portion 3 frontward but the lower half of the person on the seat is moved upward and his head is moved downward while drawing a semicircle because a guide rail 5 on the fixed portion 2 is arranged in a circular form. A shock absorbing device 1 which ties the movable portion 3 and the fixed portion 2 extends in this condition while absorbing shock, whereby shock is mitigated. Applied acceleration is changed to the axial direction of the body of the person and so burden on his neck is moved to his back and his lower half.
