PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the probability of fitting a nut runner onto a temporary- retaining bolt and into a temporary-retaining nut dispensing with an additional mechanism. SOLUTION: This controller for nut runner 1 is formed so that correcting movement may be performed which attempts to fit a nut runner 2 by changing the position of the nut runner 2 by a very small distance by means of respective moving mechanisms 4-6 according to a correcting movement procedure determined in advance by considering a non-fitting condition when the nut runner 2 may not be fitted onto temporary-retaining bolts 3A, 3B by the movement of the nut runner 2 with a normal movement procedure preset based on the position of the temporary-retaining bolts 3A, 3B on a work W. It is thus possible to fit the nut runner 2 onto the temporary-retaining bolts 3A, 3B with high probability without need for an additional mechanism.
