PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic dehydrogenation process for diisopropylbenzene that uses an economical and industrial solid catalyst in harmony with the natural environment and containing no chromium as a catalyst component, in the production of corresponding isopropenylcumene and diisopropenylbenzene from the diisopropylbenzene in the presence of steam. SOLUTION: In the presence of steam, diisopropylbenzene is dehydrogenated in gas phase at an elevated temperature to produce isopropenylcumene and diisopropenylbenzene. In this case, a solid catalyst mainly containing an iron compound and potassium compound is used and the steam is feed at a weight ratio of 3-60 to the diisopropylbenzene to effect the catalytic reaction.
