PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device setting an appropriate condition on the width of a nip part and the outside diameter of a tubular heat ray irradiation means capable of realizing a rotating member for heat ray fixation by which irregular fixation is restrained to be little and whose temperature rising speed is high. SOLUTION: The roll type rotating member for heat ray fixation 17a is formed by providing a cylindrical light transmissive base substance 171a having the tubular heat ray irradiation means (halogen lamp) 171g emitting a heat ray inside and having light transmissivity to the heat ray, a light transmissive elastic layer 171d on the outside of the base substance 171a and a heat ray absorption layer 171b absorbing the heat ray on the outside of the layer 171d, and a pressure rubber roller 47a is provided to be opposed to the member 17a.ϕL=(0.5 to 2.0)×L1 holds when it is assumed that the outside diameter of the means 171g isϕL and the width of the nip part N formed by the member 17a and the roller 47a is L1.
