摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce rolling cost and to obtain a rolling mill for producing a metallic plate excellent in surface gloss by using a cemented carbide roll having a Young's modulus of a specified value or more for either one of a pair of upper/lower work rolls for rolling a metallic plate and a steel forged roll for the other. SOLUTION: A WC cemented carbide roll having a Young's modulus of >=35000 kg/mm2 is used for one of work rolls. In the case of the cemented carbide roll of a compound roll, a thickness of the cemented carbide is preferably >=3% of a roll radius so that a surface gloss difference between a surface gloss layer and an integrated roll is <=10%. The reason, why the surface gloss to be rolled with the cemented carbide roll is increased, is that a flattening quantity of the cemented carbide roll is smaller than a flattening quantity of a forged steel roll, a bite-in angleαL of the cemented carbide roll is larger than a bite-in angleαU of the forged steel roll and then an oil film in roll bite-in is thinned, accordingly, an oil pit defect is reduced.
