PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet head in which ink jet characteristics are not influenced even if the ridge part is chipped by a jig at the time of positioning on a substrate by placing dummy positioning parts at the opposite ends of a multilayer piezoelectric element before being diced. SOLUTION: Dummy positioning parts 60a are provided at the opposite ends of a multilayer piezoelectric element 60 where the length of the multilayer piezoelectric element required for forming a plurality of piezoelectric element is L1 and the length of the multilayer piezoelectric element 60 is L2(L2>L1). When a plurality of piezoelectric elements are manufacture from the multilayer piezoelectric element 60, the multilayer piezoelectric element 60, 60 are bonded, while being positioned, onto a substrate 11 where electrode patterns 66, 67 are formed and then they are diced into a plurality of piezoelectric elements by making slit grooves by means of the blades of a slit making unit, e.g. a dicing source. The dummy part 60a is preferably 0.3-2 mm long in the longitudinal direction.
