PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable decelerating without giving a driver uneasiness when automatically reducing speed. SOLUTION: If a cruise accelerating state is shifted to a cruise deceleration preparing state at a time t1, the gear ratio of a continuously variable transmission is slightly raised. When the mode becomes a cruise decelerating state at a time t2, an electric throttle is fully closed, and the gear ratio is greatly increased and then the gradient of the gear ratio is lowered. First, the gear ratio is increased at a steep slope in a level 1, thereby obtaining large decelerating power. Then, the gear ratio is increased at a gentle slope, thereby maintaining the large decelerating power. Namely, when carrying out decelerating control at automatic traveling, the speed is reduced by a large decelerating power first, and then the decelerating power is maintained to prevent giving uneasiness to a driver.
