PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a workpiece clamping device capable of attaining highly precise positioning of a workpiece carrier relative to a chuck member. SOLUTION: This workpiece clamping device, which clamps a workpiece at a sufficiently specified position within the operating area of a tool machine, is provided with a chuck member 1, a workpiece carrier clamped with the chuck member 1, and clamping mechanisms 11, 12, 13, 16, 18 clamping the workpiece carrier with the chuck member releasably. A first positioning member 22 and a second positioning member are provided to engage the chuck member 1 and the workpiece carrier to each other of defining the position accurately. The clamping mechanisms 11, 12, 13, 16, 18 are formed by a plurality of clamping balls 18, each of which generates a component of acting force in a direction along a linear path and the respective linear paths are located on or near a virtual cylindrical surface MF intersecting the first positioning member 22 and the second positioning member. |
