METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IDENTIFYING SURFACE ELEMENT OF COMPLICATED MODEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for identifying surface elements, e.g. the external surface of a body in the geometric representation of the body by a computer. SOLUTION: This method includes a step (30) wherein a bounding structure is divided into cells, a step (32) wherein cells including part of the geometrical representation among the cells are identified and a set of those cells is regarded as a 1st cell subset, a step (34) wherein the border cells of the bounding structure are repeatedly excluded from the cells as consideration objects to identify the remaining cells among the cells and a set of them is regarded as a 2nd cell subset, and a step (36) wherein the outermost cells among the cells included in the 2nd cell subset are identified to identify the surface elements of the geometrical representation.
