PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure sharpness, excellent gradation and good conveyability. SOLUTION: The developer contains a resin coated carrier having 35-55μm weight average particle diameter and containing 0-15% carrier particles of <22μm and 0-5% carrier particles of >=88μm. The base of the coating resin is formed from an organic compound (A) having a functional group other than Si(OR1) (R1 is H, lower alkyl or acyl), a compound (B) having a functional group capable of reacting with the functional group of the compound A and Si(OR1) and/or a product obtained by hydrolyzing and condensing the compound B and an organosilicon compound (C) of the formula Si(OR2)4 (where plural symbols R2 may be the same or different and are each H, lower alkyl or acyl) and/or a product obtained by hydrolyzing and condensing the compound C. The relation between the fluidity t1 (sec/50 g) of the core material of the carrier and the fluidity t2 (sec/50 g) of the carrier satisfies t1+10>=t2.
