PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a cost by downsizing a structure transmission operating device having a shift drum, and to maintain a precise shift position. SOLUTION: A ring-shaped shift drum 30 is pivotally provided on a side part in a mission case 12. A guide groove 39 bending corresponding to a required moving amount for shift arms 37, 38 in a circumferential direction of the shift drum 30 surface is provided, and a detent hole 50 for maintaining a shift position is provided. Engaging bosses 37b, 38b of the shift arms 37, 38 are engaged with the guide groove 39. A steel ball 51 is disposed on an inner surface of a cover 26, and the steel ball 51 is pressed by a spring 54 to abut on the surface of the shift drum 30. When the shift drum 30 rotates, the shift arms 37, 38 are rocked by bending of the guide groove 39 to move shifters 35, 36 to a transmission position, and the steel ball 51 is engaged with the detent hole 50 to lock the rotation of the shift drum 30, thereby maintaining the transmission position.
