PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently formed rod-like glass elements, such as fθlenses and prisms, with high accuracy. SOLUTION: Rod-like glass blanks 29 are arranged between a pair of dies consisting of a lower die 11 having a rectangular shape including the rod-like glass blanks 29 and the rod-like glass elements 30 to be molded so as to correspond to the shapes of the elements and an upper die shown in Figure. Press forming is executed by heating a pair of these dies and the glass blanks 29 by plural straight tube type IR lamps 20 respectively arranged along both flanks of a pair of the dies parallel to the glass blanks 29.
