PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surfactant having mild action on the skin, and excellent in foam-generating power and detergency as well, by adding a specific cationic compound. SOLUTION: This surfactant contains a compound of formula I [R1 is a 7-15C alkyl or alkenyl; R2 to R4 are each a 1-3C alkyl; G is H or a 1-3C (hydroxy)alkyl; E is H, a 1-3C (hydroxy)alkyl or a group of formula II; Y is hydroxyl; A is hydroxyl, a halogen or a 1-4C alkylsulfuric acid residue; (m) is 2 or 3; (n) is 1] (for example, a compound of formula III). The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reacting a cyclic amine of formula IV with a cationizing agent of formula V (Z is a halogen) in an amount of 1-3 mol per mol of the amine. |
