PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently separating adamantanepolyols each having at least three hydroxyl groups from adamantanols each having at least one hydroxyl group in the molecule. SOLUTION: This method comprises the steps of separating adamantanediols and adamantanepolyols from adamantanols each having at least one hydroxyl group in the molecule into the aqueous phase using water and an organic solvent, adding a 4-8C alcohol to the aqueous phase to separate adamantanediols into the alcohol phase, and the adamantanepolyols into the aqueous phase.
