PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe and effective radical scavenger which can efficiently eliminate radicals in a living body and can be used for medicines, foods, cosmetics and so on, by including an erythritol. SOLUTION: This radical scavenger contains an erythritol. A radical as a catching target is preferably active oxygen, preferably hydroxyradical. The erythritol used therein is preferably meso-erythritol, which may be the meso- erythritol commercially available as a sweetener. When the radical scavenger is used as a medicine, the erythritol as an active ingredient may be orally or parenterally administered. For example, the erythritol is preferably administered at a daily dose of 100 to 3,000 mg per kg of the body weight of an adult once a day or once a several days or several weeks. |
