PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of a rack and pinion type steering device by correcting the bulkiness of a connecting part between a valve housing and a pinion housing. SOLUTION: Annular grooves 12, 13 as an undercut part are provided in the respective end parts 3a, 4a of a valve housing 3 and a pinion housing 4. A cylindrical steel-made stop tab 8 with a slit stretching over both end parts 3a, 4a is provided, and both ends of the stop tab 8 are bent inward to form projecting edges 10, 11, and caulked into the corresponding annular grooves 12, 13. An inward projecting rib is provide in a part of the peripheral surface of the stop tab 8 and caulked to the corresponding portions of the housing, thereby regulating the relative rotation of the stop tab 8 and the respective housings 3, 4.
