PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately control EGR by preventing restriction of a maximum EGR amount with appropriately setting a cross section of a gas line, and sufficiently cool exhaust gas by ensuring high temperature efficiency. SOLUTION: This structure is formed such that an opening area of a gas inlet port 23 opened in a case 9a of an EGR cooler 9 is set larger than that of a gas outlet port 24, and a line cross section of gas lines 25, 26 in the case 9a is gradually reduced from a gas inlet side S1 to a gas outlet side S2. Line resistance is thereby reduced with ensuring sufficient line cross section on the gas inlet side S1 while generation of stagnation is prevented with ensuring flow rate by reducing the line cross section on the gas outlet side S2.
