PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can retrieve contents of multiple tables fast with a key word. SOLUTION: On the basis of a table as an object of retrieval, a table list table 1, a numeral table 2, a character table 3, a key word table 4, a key word- to-character table name table 5, and a character table-to-record number table 6 are previously generated. When a key word is inputted, it is confirmed whether or not the key word is present in the key word table 4, and the name of a character table 3 having the key word is retrieved by referring to the key word-to-character table name table 5; and the record number in the table list table 1 having the character table 3 having the name is retrieved by referring to the character table-to-record number table 6 and a table is generated according to the contents of the numeral table 2 having the name in the numeral table field of the record of the record number and the contents of the character table 3 having the name in the character table field of the record and displayed.
