The invention relates to a colposcope, namely an optical-mechanical apparatus with continuously selectable working distances within the range of 220...400 mm, for the medical field, especially for gynecology. The colposcope comprises a binocular (A) having a viewing angle adjustable in the range of 0...45°, coupled with frontal lens (B). The binocular (A) comprises two lenses (1), one for each sight line, and a system of common plane mirrors, where one plane mirror (3) is mobile and rotates concomitantly with an oscillating case (18) under a two times narrower angle. The binocular (A) and the frontal lens (B) are mounted on a common base (29) supported by a body (35) vertically rotatable around an axle (36) and horizontally rotatable together with a sleeve (37) around a rod (38) of a stand. All said orienting movements can be done with one hand only, by means of a lever (33) which, at the other end, is integral with a pinion (34) engaging a toothed ring (32) of the frontal lens (B) wherethrough a mobile lens thereof is axially moved in view of the selection of the optimal working distance and, respectively, the fine adjustment of the image.
