PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder that can efficiently edit and conduct program- search in a short time despite of a simple configuration and to provide a reproduction device, a recording method and a reproduction method. SOLUTION: This recorder is provided with a still picture recording medium 21 that generates a still picture of a recording start part among video signals recorded on a tape 8 to record the image on a memory stick 10 and a time code recording means 22 that generates a time code as relating data corresponding to the still picture and records it to the memory stick 10, and generates the memory stick 10 in which information relating to the recording of a photographing scene and a still picture of the recording start part of each corresponding scene. Then the program-search and the edit of the tape 8 can easily be made by using the still picture and the relating information with comparison.
