PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a cartridge most suitable for miniaturization. SOLUTION: This disk cartridge is provided with a cartridge casing 11 having a circular spindle opening part 17 for inserting a spindle motor used to rotate a disk recording medium 10, and a pickup opening part 16 for inserting an pickup, and a shutter 13 for opening/closing these opening parts. In this case, the width W1 of a part covering the spindle opening part of the shutter is set roughly equal in dimension to the diameter Ds of the spindle opening part, the shutter is moved relative to the cartridge casing, and when the spindle opening part is completely opened, one side perpendicular to the moving direction of the shutter is set in a position roughly coincident with the end edge of the cartridge casing 11.
