PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability and safety in the detection of thermorunaway of a heating device and to restrain the cost of a detection means for detecting the thermorunaway in the heating device heating material to be heated and an image heating device heating and processing an image on recording material and an image forming device equipped with the heating device as the image heating means heating and processing the image on the recording material. SOLUTION: This heating device 6 is constituted so that device temperature is controlled to specified heating and processing temperature for material to be heated by controlling energizing the heat source 15 of a heating member 13 heating the material to be heated P based on detected temperature information by a device temperature detection means 15d. In such a case, the device 6 is provided with a temperature detection means 20 for detecting the thermorunaway of the device separately from the detection means 15d, and has an energizing cutoff means (A/D converter of a control system, a control circuit and a triac) cutting off energizing the heat source 15 of the member 13 based on the detected temperature information by the detection means 20. Then, the detection means 20 is arranged in non-contact with the member 13.
