The invention relates to a process for producing a metal monolith substrate for catalytic converters, used for preparing the catalysts controlling the polluting emissions of spark ignition motors. The claimed process consists in making a metal substrate with honeycomb structure where there are straight grooves from one side to the other, coated with a binding paste consisting of alkaline borosilicate glass containing at least 96% silica, metal powders and an organic or inorganic binder, at a temperature of 50...150°C, afterwards the resulting substrate being dried up to 400°C, burned out for at least 1 hour at 850°C and cooled at the cooling rate of the kiln.
