PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rightly abut a sheet metal work on the butting part of a back gage by providing an image pick up means which picks up an image of an abutting state on the butting part of the work and a display means to display a picked up image to an operator, for a back gage having a butting part for positioning of the sheet metal work. SOLUTION: By arranging cameras (left, right) 12l, 12r and lights (left, right) 13l, 13r directing toward a work butting part 3, the work butting part 3 is image picked up. The picked up image is displayed on an operation box display part 7. An operator, while watching a present state of the work butting part 3, operates the work W to perform precise positioning. The cameras (left, right) 12l, 12r and the lights (left, right) 13l, 13r and constituted so as to pivotally move in a prescribed angle range for remote position controlling. Work detection sensors 8l, 8r are arranged on the front abutting work face of the work butting part 3.
