SOLUTION: In a method for cleaning ammonia-containing waste water in which the ammonia in the ammonia-containing waste water is detoxified, a stage 7 for transferring the ammonia from the ammonia-containing waste water to a gas phase by allowing the ammonia-containing waste water to come in contact with carrier gas, a stage 11 for heating the ammonia-containing gas generated at the stage 7, a stage 12 for decomposing the ammonia to nitrogen and water by allowing the ammonia-containing gas heated at the heating stage to come in contact with a catalyst, a stage 16 for discharging part of the gas generated at the decomposition stage to the outside of the system and for circulating the remainder as a carrier gas at the step for transferring the ammonia from the ammonia-containing waste water to the gas phase and a stage 10 for regulating the oxygen concn. in the gas at one or more stages among the above stages are included.
