PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high definition image by interpolation ambient interpolation pixels being pixels that are not interpolated by using pattern opposite pixels being input pixels opposite to pixels in a pattern approximate section in a vertical direction to an interpolation line across the pixels. SOLUTION: Input pixels A3 to A6 on an input image line A and input pixels B7 to B10 on an input pixel line B are defined as pixels in a pattern approximate section, and pixels that are not held between two pattern approximate section pixels A3 and B7, A4 and B8, A5 and B9, and A6 and B10 in the direction of pattern approximation are defined as ambient interpolation pixels among interpolation pixels i5 to i8 where the pixels adjoin. Interpolation is performed by using the values of the pixels A3 to A6 opposite to the pixels in the pattern approximate section in a vertical direction to an interpolation line (i) across the pixels. Thus, a high definition image can be obtained. |
