PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To designate an informing sound generating state in response to a user's will in a cooker by generating an informing sound when counting of timer function is finished, or managing the sound generation continuing time under designated conditions before executing the function. SOLUTION: When a measurement start key 12 is operated, an internal timer counts down. Then, when a set counting time becomes '0', counting of the timer is stopped, an informing sound generating mode stored in an internal memory is read, its type is recognized, and the sound is generated. If the recognized mode is a short time mode or an intermediate time mode, the sound is generated for each of required times. When time's up, driving of an alarm unit 3 is stopped. Meanwhile, if the recognized mode is a limitless mode, the driving of the unit 3 is stopped when a sound stop key 14 is operated by the user.
