<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner small in components and amount of thermally decomposed gas generated at flash fixation by using a specified polyester resin as a binder resin. SOLUTION: The polyester resin having 350 deg.C or higher thermal decomposition temperature is used as the binder resin. This polyester resin to be used for the toner is produced in a special production process in order to restrain the generation of the thermally decomposed gas (an organic gas) at the flash fixation. Namely, after the general main reaction is carried out by agitating under a normal pressure (760 mmHg) at 150-300 deg.C for 1-24 hours, the pressure- reduced reaction is carried out under 5-380 mmHg, further 10-100 mmHg, at the same temperature as the main reaction for 50 minutes or longer, preferably 60-70 minutes. As a result, the obtained polyester resin is less in unreacted materials and incomplete products, has 350 deg.C or higher thermal decomposition temperature, is less in thermal decomposition and is small in the thermally decomposed gas (the organic gas) at the flash fixation. The binder resin has preferably 1.0×105-3.0×105 weight average molecular weight in consideration of easiness of kneading.</p> |
