PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform centering of a core part with good accuracy without damaging the core part in holding the end of a plastic optical fiber. SOLUTION: This apparatus includes a chuck 36 operated to fasten, and a core guide member 33 having a guide hole 32a, wherein the core guide member 32 is disposed at a space from the end of the chuck 36, a core part 55 is exposed from the end 53 of a plastic optical fiber 50 having a jacket 54, the jacket 54 of the plastic optical fiber 50 is fastened and held by the chuck 36, and the core part 55 is inserted and held in a guide hole 32a of the core guide member 32 to machine the core end face 51a of the core part 55. |
