SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal light valve 300 which has a device side substrate 1 having a plurality of pixel electrodes 12 and a counter substrate 2 facing the device side substrate 1, and which holds a liquid crystal 3 between the substrates, convex microlenses 214 and concave microlenses 231 to successively transmit and introduce the light from a light source to the pixel electrodes 12 are formed on the counter substrate 2 corresponding to the respective plurality of pixel electrodes 12. |
