ACCESS CONTROL METHOD FOR DRIVE DEVICE AND DRIVE DEVICE EMPLOYING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize drive devices in specific group units by employing a group code for a data request command from an application program or device driver and authenticating a drive device. SOLUTION: Drive devices (a) to (c) included in a group 9 have a discriminated priority function for other drive devices 1 to (n) which are accessed by a general driver. The drive devices (a) to (c) with a high-speed function which belongs to this specific group 9 have specific data written to their command process parts together with an answer control program which controls the return of answer data in response to a check command. This answer control program generates answer data including a specific code in response to the check command. Once the answer data has been received, the specific driver recognizes the specific code in the answer data.
