PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for evaluating a yoke type magnetoresistance effect type head whereby the magnetic characteristic of a yoke part can be simply evaluated. SOLUTION: A magnetic field is applied to a sample 11 by a magnet 12. At this time, a resistance change is detected by a resistance value detect apparatus 14, and the applied magnetic field is detected by a magnetic field detect apparatus 16. A resistance change curve is obtained by a plot apparatus 18 on the basis of the detected resistance value and magnetic field. An external magnetic field of a head with a yoke is converted to an effective magnetic field obtained by a simulation, which is compared with the resistance change obtained for a head without a yoke.
