PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the color reproducibility of colored characters/edges while the color reproducibility of black characters/edges are maintained at the conventional level. SOLUTION: The color picture processor is provided with a first color converting section 12 which converts the color space of RGB signals which are picture information inputted from a color scanner 11 into a color space which can be resolved into luminance Y and color difference components I and Q and an achromatic color discriminating section 17 which generates signals indicating the feature of each area of a picture from the inputted picture information. The processor performs edge emphasis on at least either one of the luminance Y and color differences I and Q converted by means of the converting section 12 based on a discriminate signal from the discriminating section 17. |
