PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an eddy current reducing gear, in which a cage-shaped reinforcing member is provided inside an outside thin cylinder part so as enable magnetic field from a magnet to reach a brake drum. SOLUTION: This eddy current reducing gear is constituted of a brake drum 3 coupled to a rotating shaft, a guide cylinder 7, that has an inside hollow part 12 of a rectangular shape in cross section and is supported on a non- rotating part including car body to protrude toward the inside part of the brake drum 3, and a magnet-support cylinder 9 comprising a magnetic material that is supported in the inside hollow part 12 of the guide cylinder 7, to be movable in reciprocating motion in the axial direction and that couples many magnets 10 at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. An outside cylindrical part 17 of the guide cylinder 7 that faces the inside circumferential surface 3b of the brake drum 3 is made of a thin nonmagnetic material to make the brake drum 3 generate braking force based on eddy currents generated by magnetic field from the magnets 10. A cage-shaped reinforcing member 16 made of a nonmagnetic material for reinforcing the outside cylindrical part 17 is press fit into a portion of the inside circumferential part of the outside cylindrical part 17 that does not face the magnets 10.
