METHOD FOR CONNECTING VIRTUAL CHANNEL IN ATM NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable communication between a terminal for performing communication by an SVC and a terminal to perform communication by a PVC/PVP without almost changing each terminal according to the request from a terminal to perform communication by the SVC. SOLUTION: A VC (SVC) is set between an ATM exchange 117 and the terminal 211 by responding to a SETUP (call setting) signal to specify the ATM exchange 117 issued from the terminal 211 for the SVC by the ATM exchange 117 to be passed by the PVC of the terminal 112 for the PVC. In addition, a part between the terminal 112 and the exchange 117 specified by the SETUP signal of the PVC to go through the intermediary of the exchange 117 is appropriated as the VC between the exchange 117 and the terminal 112, and it is connected with the VC which is between the exchange 117 and the terminal 211.
