PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit simple incidence of an acoustic signal for inspecting a pipe with no effect on use of the pipe. SOLUTION: As a pipe 11 to be inspected is on a town gas pipe line, a vibration exciter 16 is installed on an above-ground-surface part of a branch pipe 12 to inspect the pipe 11, and the incidence of an acoustic signal 17 for inspection is made. The vibration exciter 16 vibrates the outer peripheral surface of a branch pipe 12 from which the vibration is transmitted into the inner peripheral surface thereof, and accordingly, the acoustic signal 17 is introduced by the vibration at the inner peripheral surface, and is transmitted to the pipe 11 to be inspected by way of the branch pipe 12. In installing the vibrator 16, a connection pipe line 15 connected to a gas meter 13 does not require removing, accordingly, the supply of town gas is not interrupted at all and the simple incidence of the acoustic signal is made possible.
