PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the installation of an erroneous erasure preventive mechanism even in a place having a limited space within a cassette casing and to enable the sure erroneous erasure preventive operation in a recording medium housing cassette (tape cassette, for example). SOLUTION: The recording medium housing cassette is constituted to make an erroneous erasure preventive plug 17 slide in the thickness direction (vertical direction) of the cassette casing 11, thereby operating the opening or closing of an erroneous erasure prentive detection hole 18 and to make a first bend 17c1 of a click locking piece 17c engaged with a first click locking part 21a when the erroneous erasure preventive plug 17 is in a state of opening the detection hole 18 and to make a second bend 17c2 of the click locking piece 17c engaged with a second click locking part 22a when the erroneous erasure preventive plug 17 is in a state of closing the detection hole 18, thereby restraining and holding the erroneous erasure preventive plug 17.
