PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and reliably inform a guest of the arrival of messages which have been recorded in a voice mail while the guest was absent in the room without troubling the guest. SOLUTION: A telephone set 3 is connected to a main device 1, and the presence of a human body is detected by an infrared sensor 6. If absence is detected as the result, absence setting is registered in an absence setting registration part 5 via a telephone set interface 2. When a call arrives at the telephone set while the guest is absent in the room, a message indicating that the guest is absent is set to the calling subscriber side, and a message is recorded in a voice mail device 12, if it is necessary. When entrance of the guest to the room is detracted thereafter, it is reported to the main device 1, and an announcement from a voice announcement reproducing device 9 is outputted form the main device 1 to the telephone set 3 to inform the guest of the arrival of the message.
