PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select and utilize a telephone line company of the lowest charge by registering data as plural telephone line companies, the telephone station number of speaking destination and a call charge of each day of the week and each time band in storing means in advance and selecting a telephone line company of the lowest charge at calling. SOLUTION: A portable telephone set consists of an input part 1, a transmission/ reception part 2, antenna 3, display part 4, speech output part 5, control part 6 for controlling each part, converting signals, etc., and memory part 7 as the program storage for processing and a working area. In this portable telephone set, a call charge at speaking through the lines of plural telephone line companies is inputted by each day of the week and each time band by designating the telephone station number obtained through the removal of a subscriber's number and is registered in a storage means as telephone line companies, the telephone station number of speaking destination and a call charge of each day of the week and each time land. Then, at calling, a user selects the telephone line company of the lowest call charge corresponding to the day and the time land of the calling time, if the telephone station number is registered.
