<p>A substantially continuous method for forming a structural panel of indefinite length which comprises the following steps: (a) preparing a settable mixture including an organic particulate base material consisting predominantly of rice hull and a binder, (b) conveying the mixture in a flowable state to a load chamber, (c) progressively forcing the mixture from the load chamber through an inlet toward an outlet of an open ended mould chamber of constant cross section by compression means, (d) partially curing the mixture within the mould chamber, (e) resisting movement of the mixture through the mould chamber until a predetermined consolidation pressure or density within the mould chamber is achieved, (f) subsequently allowing movement of the mixture through the mould chamber in response to further mixture being first forced through the inlet by the compression means, (g) allowing the mixture to cure, and thereby progressively forming a structural panel of substantially indefinite length. An apparatus for forming said structural panel of indefinite length is also described.</p> |
